About usThis trans-atlantic web experience named Café Stockholm-Toronto is nothing more than an experience. The perpetual beta-version of a web site born out of the desire to find a home. Even a virtual one. Both authors are facing the challenges of the immigrant (emigrant?) life, though in different places, on different continents. Hence Stockholm and Toronto, respectively. But the land left behind is the same: Transylvania. For them it is not the legendary home of Dracula. It is the place where they were born, went to school - and lived. (I bet you thought there is no real place with that name...) Actually the authors have studied at the same university - when they were a little bit younger - and after many years of lost connection they suddenly discovered each other on the net. Emails followed... and they started to build the Café. It is a Café - a traditional place for gathering, for talk. It also offers a public space for authors and artists and everybody. Unfortunately the majority of the website is in Hungarian, we don't have the resources to translate all the texts. For the moment the only chapter with an English version is the Gallery. Look around and enjoy! Tamás & István NEW!On Sept. 29, 2001. an artist named András Márkos (from Stuttgart, but originally also from Transylvania) organized a 24 hours long performance. During the 24 hours he painted 24 paintings - one by every hour. Poets, writers, critics and other artists were invited to write previously a "presentation" of the work knowing only the title! The texts were written and sent or brought (personally) to the gallery were the event took place in Csíkszereda.
Our website published four mini-interviews with the artist on the week before (in Hungarian only).
In the Café part there are pages presenting the authors, the story of this site and links to our friends.
